Frequently Asked Questions

If you are considering coaching, you may have questions about how the process works. Below are answers to some of the most common questions about coaching, the Powering the Pause methodology, and working together.

  • Powering the Pause is my methodology for creating intentional space within complexity. Rooted in the philosophy of MA — the creative power of the void — I create systems and processes that remove resistance to inaction. When people pause intentionally, their perspective shifts, the noise quiets, and new clarity and possibility emerge.

  • Consulting tells people what to change. Traditional coaching asks questions. I do something different: I build the actual systems and processes — environments of trust, safety, autonomy, and partnership — that remove the barriers to change. People drive the change themselves, which is why it lasts.

  • Most people at inflection points know something needs to change but feel stuck. The resistance is not laziness — it is a lack of the right conditions for clarity. I create structured environments where people can safely step back from the noise, examine their situation from a new perspective, and find the clarity to move forward. These might be coaching frameworks, workshop structures, institutional processes, or reflective practices — tailored to the context.

  • The methodology is identical across all my work. Whether I am partnering with teachers, young people, executives, or coaches, I create environments of trust and autonomy where people discover their own insight and drive their own change. My coaching skills are the foundation of my education work, and my 30 years of institutional experience deepens my coaching practice.

  • Leaders and executives navigating complexity. Schools and institutions driving systemic change. Professional coaches preparing for ICF credentials. Individuals at career or life inflection points. What unites them is a willingness to pause, reflect, and take ownership of their own change.

  • I coach internationally via Zoom. I am available across time zones including early morning and evening sessions. Many of my clients are based in the US, UK, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. Based in India, coaching internationally.

  • MA is a Japanese concept — the creative power of the void, the space between. It is the pause that gives meaning to everything around it. In my work, MA represents the intentional space I create where perspectives shift, where people change the lens through which they see, and where new possibility emerges. It is the philosophical foundation of Powering the Pause.

  • I design and deliver teacher professional development programs and student leadership programs that create deep, lasting systemic change. The key difference: my programs are built on teacher autonomy and student partnership. People invest in the change rather than complying with it. This produces measurably different and sustainable outcomes.

  • Coaching engagements typically run 3–6 months. Education programs and institutional partnerships are designed around your specific context. We discuss everything during the discovery conversation.

  • Greater clarity, more confident decision-making, stronger professional presence, and deeper alignment between values and actions. Institutional clients report sustained cultural shifts and improved engagement. Coaches report successful credential outcomes. Teachers report renewed investment in their practice.
